Audition for Oboe, Associate Principal
1. Vacancy One Oboe player as Associate Principal
Preliminary Round (Recording audition) Applicant must record and send the following repertoire in the order with track numbers on CD-R.

5. 2nd movement from Dvorak Symphony No. 9 E minor, op. 95 “From the New World”


The recording must be made within 6 months before the date of application.
Place track numbers at start of each piece, 1 to 5.
Piano accompaniment is essential for concerti. No restriction on publisher, or edition..

The recording device must be CD-R (music recording only)
Confirm the content before submitting. Avoid low volume or any echo in the recording as this may affect the judgement.

Live audition repertoire
(1) 1st movement of Mozart Oboe Concerto in C major K. 314 (including cadenza)
(2) 2nd movement from Mozart Oboe Concerto in C major K. 314 (without cadenza)
(3) Orchestral study
(Details will be announced to those who passed the preliminary round.)

The orchestra will arrange a piano accompanist, but the applicant can also attend the audition with his/her accompanist. In this case, any fee incurred will be burnt by the applicant. More details will be informed on a later date.
There will be an interview for those who attend the final round on the same day.
4. Salary and benefits Salary 191,900 JPY (age 22) to 247,600 JPY (age 35)
Additional bonus twice a year
Other benefits: housing, family, cold-area, commuting and instrument.
Social welfare, unemployment insurance and retirement allowance are also available.
5. Employment starting date December 2020, but negotiable
There will be 6-month probation before official employment.

Preliminary Round (Recording audition) Applicant must record and send the following repertoire in the order with track numbers on CD-R.

Instrument must be full double horn and both B-flat single and Descant Horns are not allowed.

(2) 2nd movement from Mozart Horn Concerto No. 3 in E-flat major K. 447
(3) Neuling Bagatelle


The recording must be made within 6 months before the date of application.
Needs piano accompaniment, and introduction can be deleted.
Place track numbers at start of each piece and at start of cadenza.
The recording device must be CD-R (music recording only)

(1) Flute Mozart: Flute Concerto No. 2 in D major K.314, 1st movement (without cadenza)
* with piano accompaniment (6 bars before the start of solo)
(2) Piccolo Mozart: Flute Concerto No. 2 in D major K. 314, 2nd movement (without cadenza)
* with piano accompaniment (4 bars before the start of solo)


Piano accompaniment is essential.
Applicant can select any edition/publisher.
The recording must be made within 6 months before the date of application.

(1) Flute Mozart: Flute Concerto No.1 in G major K.313, 1st movement (with cadenza)
* with piano accompaniment (4bars before the start of solo)
(2) Piccolo Mozart: Flute Concerto No. 2 in D major K. 314, 2nd movement (without cadenza)
* with piano accompaniment (4 bars before the start of solo)
(3) Orchestral Study (including piccolo) - details will be informed to those who passed the preliminary audition

The orchestra will arrange a piano accompanist but the applicant can also attend the audition with his/her accompanist. Any expense incurred in this case must be burnt by the applicant. Further details on this will be given to the successful applicant.
There will be an interview for those who attend the final auditions, on the same day.
