  Brahms / D major op.77, Saint Saens / No. 3 op. 61, Bruch / No. 1 in G minor op. 26,
  Tchaikovsky / D major op.35, Sibelius / D minor op. 47, Bartok / No. 2

(3) Beethoven / Symphony No. 9, 2nd movement (2nd violin) Beginning to the first note of B

The recording must be made within 6 months before the date of application.
(1)and (2) need piano accompaniment, and introduction can be deleted.
Score editions are free to choose.
Place track numbers at start of each piece and when there is a cadenza, place track number at start of cadenza.
The recording device must be CD-R (music recording only).
Confirm the content before submitting. Avoid low volume or any echo in the recording as this may affect the judgement.

Send the following documents together with your recording to the address noted in 6 by post.
Enclose an application form downloaded from Sapporo Symphony Orchestra official website, filled it in and paste the ID photograph. You also need to download and enclose Consent of Handling Personal Information form with your signature.
Mark your name on CD-R.
The documents and recording are not returnable.

Must arrive by Monday, December 1, 2025

●Result of Recording Audition
Result will be notified, no later than Monday, December 15, 2025. Write in your email address in your application form that can receive pdf files.
3. Live Auditions (Secondary and Final Auditions) ●Date and Venue
Secondary Audition (Audition by Section members)
 Tuesday, January 13, 2026 starting from 12 noon (tentative schedule)
 Sapporo Art Park Art Hall Arena(2-chome Geijutsu-no-mori, Minami-ku, Sapporo)

Final Audition (Audition by all the orchestra members)
 Wednesday, January 14, 2026 starting in the afternoon (tentative)
 Sapporo Art Park Art Hall Arena(2-chome Geijutsu-no-mori, Minami-ku, Sapporo)

Live Audition repertoire
(1) The first movement of the same Mozart’s Concerto, either No. 3, No. 4 or No. 5, recorded for the primary audition with cadenza.
(2) Orchestral study
Details will be informed to those who passed the primary audition.

- The orchestra will arrange a piano accompanist, but the applicant can also attend the audition with his/her accompanist. In this case, any fee incurred will be burnt by the applicant. There will be a rehearsal time with piano during the morning of each live audition date. Further details will be informed on a later date.
- There will be an interview for those who attend the final auditions on the same day.
4.Salary and other benefits Salary 203,900 JPY (age 22)
Additional bonus twice a year
Other benefits: housing, family, cold-area, commuting and instrument.
Social welfare, unemployment insurance and retirement allowance are also available.
5. Employment starting date As soon as possible but negotiable.
There will be 6-month probation period before official employment.

Preliminary Audition Primary Round (Live audition by section members)

● Repertoire
(1) Concerti with piano accompaniment
 ①1st movement from Mozart Horn Concerto No. 4 in E-flat major K. 495, including cadenza
 ②A 2nd movement from Mozart Horn Concerto No. 4 in E-flat major K.495
Note: Instrument that can be used will be full double horn only and B-flat single nor discount
horns are not to be used.
The orchestra will arrange a piano accompanist, but the applicant can also attend the audition with his/her accompanist. In this case, any fee incurred will be burnt by the applicant. There will be no rehearsal with the accompanist for the primary round audition. The accompanist will be preparing with Barenreiter, but there is no limitation for the soloist regarding the publisher.

Send the application form to the address noted below by a registered post. The application forms are not returnable.

Those who passed the primary round may be notified by telephone.
We ask those who passed the primary round to perform as the guest principal horn with the orchestra for the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra concerts until the secondary audition. The number of performances will be designated by the orchestra.
Secondary Round, Final Round ● Date and Time: Monday, January 26, 2026 in the afternoon (TBD)
