[Primary Audition]
(1) Honegger/Intrada (beginning to mm.34, the first note of Allegro)
(2) Orchestral excerpts
※ Only C Trumpet for both (1) and (2).
※ (1) Honegger is to be performed without piano accompaniment.
※ (2) Scores of orchestral excerpts will be sent to the applicant after the deadline of the application. Please write in your email address that can receive PDF files. Which to be performed will be notified to the applicant on the day of the audition.

[Secondary Audition]
(1) Haydn: Concerto for trumpet in E-flat major, 1st movement (until the beginning of mm. 117)
※ Only B-♭ Trumpet
※ With piano accompaniment (mm.5 before start of solo)
※ The orchestra can arrange a piano accompanist or the applicant can attend the
audition with his/her accompanist (in this case, all the fee incurred is burnt by the
applicant.)
※ There will be no time to rehearsal with an accompanist. The accompanist arranged by
the orchestra will use Henle version but there is no limitation of the version if the applicant
has his/her accompanist.
(2) Orchestral excerpts
※ Either C or B♭ trumpet can be used.
※ As in the primary audition, scores of orchestral excerpts will be sent to the applicant after
the application deadline . Which to be performed will be notified to the applicant on the day of the audition.
How to apply / Deadline Download the designated application form and Consent of Handling Personal Information from the official website of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, fill in the form with your ID photo pasted and send both documents by a registered mail to the address noted in 6. (Documents sent to the orchestra are not returnable.)

※ Only B-♭ Trumpet

※ The orchestra can arrange a piano accompanist or the applicant can attend the
audition with his/her accompanist (in this case, all the fee incurred is burnt by the
applicant.). There will be a time to rehearse with an accompanist during the morning of
the audition day. Details on this will be notified later.
(2) Orchestral excerpts (Details will be notified to those who passed the secondary audition)
※ Instrument to be used is optional.

●Interview
There will be an interview on the day of the final audition.
4. Salary and benefits Salary 203,900 JPY (age 22) ~ plus associate principal allowance
Additional bonus twice a year (as stipulated)
Other benefits: housing, family, cold-area, commuting and instrument.
Social welfare, unemployment insurance and retirement allowance are also available.
5. Employment starting date As soon as possible (negotiable)
There will be 6-month probation period before official employment.

<Precautions>
・The recordings must be done one time-sequence, with no interruptions or cuts between
concerto and orchestra excerpts. The recordings must be done without piano
accompaniment.
・Candidates are free to choose the edition or publisher of the scores.
・The recording must be made within 6 months before the date of application.
・Video must be recorded longitudinally without any revision after recording. The
angle of the camera must be fixed throughout the performance.
・Image on the video must cover the applicant’s body, from knee to head. The whole
instrument, face of the applicant and both right and left hands must be recorded.
・For the orchestra excerpt, the applicant may sit or stand while playing but needs to
follow the above condition.
・The music and movement of hands must be simultaneous, and if not, may be rejected
for further judgement.

Consent of Handling Personal Information also needs to be downloaded from the pdf at the bottom of this page, write in your signature and send it together with your application form to the address noted in 6 by a registered post. The application forms are not returnable.

Sapporo Symphony Orchestra would ask to those who passed the primary audition to attend and perform as the invited player within the orchestra for the requested number of times until the secondary audition.

・The orchestra will arrange a piano accompanist, but the applicant can also attend the audition with his/her accompanist. In this case, any fee incurred will be burnt by the applicant. There will be a rehearsal time with piano during the morning of the audition day. Details will be notified on a later date.
・There will be an interview on the same day for those who attend the final auditions.

2. Recording Audition (Primary Round) Record the following repertoire with track numbers on CD-R, and send it to the orchestra.

  Please include cadenza (Gendron version)
  Record with a piano accompaniment.    
[Precautions]
 - The recording must be made within 6 months before the date of application.
 - Record with a piano accompaniment and prelude can be excluded accordingly.
 - Place track numbers at the beginning and at the start of your cadenza.
 - The recording device must be CD-R (music recording only).
 - Confirm the content with your audio device before submitting. Avoid low volume or any echo in the recording as this may affect the judgement.

- Download the application form together with Consent of Handling Personal Information form from the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra official website. Fill in the necessary information and paste your ID photograph.
- Mark your name on CD-R.
