【Biography】
Michiko Hanyu, soprano
Graduated from Sapporo Otani Junior College Musician Vocal Music Course and completed the same major. Completed the Opera Training Institute of the Agency for Cultural Affairs.
In 1998, she moved to Rome as an overseas trainee for artists of the Hokkaido Cultural Foundation, during which she won the Grand Prize at the Santa Margherita Ligure International Vocal Seminar and performed in "Rigoletto" Gilda. In 1999, she continued to study in Rome as an artist trainee dispatched by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. Since then, she was Queen of the Night in "Magic Flute" with Tokyo Nikikai, and Hokkaido Nikikai, Tsuu in "Yuzuru" with Nissei Theater and Hokkaido Nikikai, Rosina in "The Barber of Seville," Flower Maiden in "Parsifal" with New National Theater, Karolca in "Yenufa," Nella in "Gianni Schicchi," Chef in "Night Cry" and has also performed as a member of MOZART SINGERS JAPAN. She is also active in recording and recipient of number of awards including the 1st prize at the 2nd Fujisawa Opera Competition, the 5th Dogin Arts and Culture Encouragement Award, Heisei 21 Otaru Culture Encouragement Award and Grand Prize at the Sapporo Civic Art Festival in Reiwa 2. Currently she is Professor at Sapporo Otani University and is Member of Niki-kai.
