Sapporo Symphony Orchestra celebrates its 60th anniversary,

hoping that this anniversary will be memorized as one of the best moments to all the music lovers.

 

♪60th Anniversary Concert #1♪

≪「640th Subscription Concert」≫

The very first subscription concert took place in September 1961. Our September 2021 Subscription will be held as the 60th anniversary concert.

Saturday, September 11 from 5pm; Sunday, September 12 from 1pm

Venue: Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara

We have been putting every effort to make this concert 「Eliska 90th Anniversary of his birth」come true, however due to entry regulation and quarantine, the conductor is unable to join us in Sapporo. (Details are below)

≪DVD 「Radomil Eliska Farewell Concert」≫(tbd)

The last concert with Eliska, the 604th Subscription Concert on October 2017, was recorded and made into DVD.

DVD is under production to be released on the day that will match with the concert「Eliska 90th Anniversary of his birth」 scheduled in October 2021.

≪CD 「Sibelius Complete Symphonies: Sapporo Symphony Orchestra with Tadaaki Otaka」≫

All seven symphonies composed by Sibelius, one of Sakkyo’s important repertoires recorded between year 2013 and 2016 will be released in 3 CDs.

≪CD 「Toru Takemitsu 1982 Historic Recordings with Sapporo Symphony Orchestra with Hiroyuki Iwaki」≫

Celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Toru Takemitsu’s death and the 60th Anniversary of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra. A documentary CD of Takemitsu and Sakkyo that gained much attention since its release in July 2021.

A special page in the Sakkyo Official Website will start in September. It will include how we developed together with number of conductors, how far we moved within Hokkaido, in Japan, etc. Sakkyo Official Instagram started in July (@sapporo_symphony)with messages and photos of our musicians.

 

≪Kitara Gallery「Sapporo Symphony Orchestra Story」≫

Papers and photographs will be exhibited in Gallery located in Kitara Large Hall Foyer- starts from October (scheduled)

 

≪Annual Version-digital≫

Official Record of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra will be made into digital version and be uploaded on the website. Official photographs of the orchestras and musicians will also be renewed.

 

【Concert cancelled】「Memorial Concert of Eliska 90th Anniversary of his birth」~♪60th Anniversary Concert #2♪

As Jakub Hrůša is unable to be with us due to entry regulation and current quarantine requirement; we regretfully have to cancel the concert. We have made our decision that this concert will be meaningless without Mo. Hrůša.

Very precious memories that Sakkyo and Sakkyo fans rest with Maestro Radomil Eliska (1931-2019)- The orchestra was to have a memorial concert of Maestro Eliska, celebrating his 90th birthday with his lovable mentor.
