Details of audition and how to apply are as follows:


Double Bass (tutti)

1.Vacancy Double Bass (tutti)
In principal, applicants must be under age of 35.
2. Preliminary Audition (Recording audition) Repertoire should be recorded in the listed order ① to ⑤ with track numbers on CD-R.

[Audition Repertoire]
(1) Solo works with piano accompaniment

Dittersdorf: Concerto for Double bass in E major (notation D major) Schott
① 1st movement with cadenza (Gruber)
② 2nd movement without cadenza
Place a track number at the start of cadenza (1st movement)

(2) Orchestra Study

Mozart Symphony No. 40
③ Bar 114, 3rd beat to bar 138
Beethoven Symphony No. 5 3rd movement
④ Beginning to bar 78
⑤ Bar 137 to bar 218 without repeating


[Precautions]
All the recording must be in ORCHESTRA TUNING (for solo works, including piano must be in D major for the 1st movement and G major for the 2nd movement).
Score for the piano can be from any publisher.
The recording must be made within 6 months before the date of application.
(1) needs piano accompaniment.
The recording device must be CD-R (music recording only)
Confirm the content before submitting. Avoid low volume or any echo in the recording as this may affect the judgement.
How to apply / Deadline Send the following documents together with your recording to the address noted in 6 by post.
Mark your name on CD-R.
The documents and recording are not returnable.

1.Resume (if you are Japanese, use a standard resume form.) Please write in your music experience. Your birthdate and an ID photograph are essential.
2. Recording information (note the date and place of recording in A4 format)

Result will be sent by post no later than Monday, January 28, 2019.

[Live Audition Repertoire]
(1) Concerto
As in the primary audition
(2) Orchestral study
(Details will be announced to those who passed the primary audition.)

All the performance must be carried out in the orchestral tuning.
The orchestra will arrange a piano accompanist, but the applicant can also attend the audition with his/her accompanist. In this case, any fee incurred will be burnt by the applicant. More details will be informed on a later date.
There will be an interview for those who attend the final auditions on the same day.
4.Salary and other benefits Salary 191,600 JPY (age 22) to 247,400 JPY (age 35)
Additional bonus twice a year (following the orchestra regulations)
Other benefits: housing, family, cold-area, commuting and instrument.
Social welfare, unemployment insurance and retirement allowance are also available.
5. Employment starting date As soon as possible, but negotiable
There will be 6-month probation before official employment.

Violin (Tutti)

1.Vacancy Violin (tutti)
In principal, applicants must be under age of 35.
2. Preliminary Audition (Recording audition) Repertoire should be recorded in the listed order with track numbers on CD-R.

(1) One of the following concerti, the first movement with cadenza, with piano accompaniment.
Mozart Violin Concerto No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 (2) The first movement of one of the following concerti with piano accompaniment
Paganini / No. 1 in D major op. 6, Mendelssohn / E minor op.64, Lalo / Spanish Symphony op. 21, Beethoven / D major op. 61, Saint Saens / No. 3 op. 61, Brahms / D major op.77, Bruch / No. 1 in G minor op. 26, Tchaikovsky / D major op.35, Sibelius / D minor op. 47, Bartok / No. 2, Prokofiev / No. 2 in G minor op.63

[Orchestra Study]
(3) Beethoven Symphony No. 9 2nd movement (2nd violin) from start to the first note in B
(4) R. Strauss Symphonic Poem "Don Juan" (1st violin) from start to the 13th note in C

The recording device must be CD-R (music recording only)

Live Audition Repertoire
(1) Mozart Violin Concerto No. 3 or No. 4 or No. 5; 1st movement with cadenza Applicant must perform the same piece as in his/her recording audition.
(2) Orchestral study (Details will be announced to those who passed the primary audition.)


-The orchestra will arrange a piano accompanist, but the applicant can also attend the audition with his/her accompanist. In this case, any fee and / or expense incurred will be burnt by the applicant. More details will be informed on a later date.

1.Vacancy Viola (tutti)
In principal, applicants must be under age of 35.
2. Recording Audition (Primary audition) Repertoire should be recorded in the listed order with track numbers on CD-R.
Applicants are free to choose edition of the score.

[Audition Repertoire]
(1) One of the following concerti, the first movement without cadenza, with piano accompaniment.
1) C.P. Stamitz Viola Concerto in D major, 1st movement
2) Hoffmeister Viola Concerto in D major, 1st movement
(2) One of concerto by Bartok or Walton or Hindemith’s “Der Schwanendreher,” 1st movement, with piano accompaniment

[Orchestra Study]
(3) Beethoven Overture to "Coriolan" D mm.9 to E mm.3

[Precautions]
The recording must be made within 6 months before the date of application.
(1) and (2) need piano accompaniment, and introduction can be deleted.
The recording device must be CD-R (music recording only)

Live Audition Repertoire
(1) Either Stamiz or Hoffmeister concerto that the applicant has selected for the primary audition, 1st movement without cadenza.
(2) Concerto of Bartok or Walton, or Hindemith’s “Der Schwanendreher,” the concerto that the applicant has selected for the primary audition, 1st movement


The orchestra will arrange a piano accompanist, but the applicant can also attend the audition with his/her accompanist. In this case, any fee incurred will be burnt by the applicant. There will be a rehearsal time with piano during the morning of each live audition date. Further details will be informed on a later date.
There will be an interview for those who attend the final auditions on the same day..
